I'm trying to renew my domain but it cost a lot my than what I initially paid.

You might want to transfer your domain name away to a different registrar. Here are some different prices:

http://www.hostidea.com/domains/ - $10 a year
http://www.godaddy.com - $8 a year
http://www.registerfly.com - $9 a year
http://www.dotster.com - $15 a year
http://www.ev1servers.net/english/index.asp - $7.00 a year

I would go with any of the top three. Transferring a domain is really easy, I've done it several times.
