Let's "try" to stay on subject.

In talking with some top management folks at Morningstar last week I think the lastest decision to save the towers is a good one. I hope they can pull that off. Maybe someone else had some inside information when posting that many of the ministries started at Heritage USA may continue in some form but I think we have some positive things to think about. I know one of the insiders had a group that wanted to blow up the towers for free but the offer was rejected when they were told the organization wanted to put bodies inside and train dogs to find them. I guess someone has to do that work. I think it would be really cool if the girls home could be started again. I remember working at the front gate one day and seeing a car stop down on the street. Out came this little girl about 14 or 15 with one little bag. She walked up the long drive alone. I wasn't sure what was going on. When she got to the guard house she asked about the girls home. "Mister, she asked?" "Do you think they have a place for me?" I will never forget that as long as I live! I really didn't know what to say or do. I phoned over to the girls home and told them what I had. A very short and long minutes later, three ladies from the girls home drove around and stopped beside the guard house. When all three got out of the car they had huge welcoming smiles on their faces. I walked the girl over to them and they welcomed her just like they had been expecting her. I have no idea what happened after they drove off with her. But I'm sure they made or found a place for her. But wouldn't it be cool if God made a place for girls in trouble again on the "former" grounds of Heritage USA!

Pieces of the puzzle coming back together

It sure sounds like the pieces of the puzzle are coming back together very nicely. I truly believe God is in everything that's going on down there at what was Heritage USA. Remember, Heritage USA wasn't built overnight; and neither shall the new ministries that are currently operating on the former Heritage USA property.

The story about the little girl was touching. Remember PTL's Home for Unwed Mothers? I had an e-mail some time ago from one of the ladies who lived at the home back in the 1980s when she was going through a troubling pregnancy. She was asking if I knew of any way that she could locate the child she gave birth to, since she gave it up for adoption immediately after it was born.

I told her the first contact would probably be with the hospital she gave birth at. The hospital would probably refer her on to the appropriate state agencies. I haven't heard from her again, so am hopeful she was able to be successful in her quest. Knowing that in most states, adoption records under such conditions are generally sealed from public inspection, it would probably be a difficult process for her to find out anything.

If I remember she gave birth at a nearby hospital to what was Heritage USA; I believe in one of the neighboring communities in South Carolina. One contact for her would be to check with the South Carolina Department of Health. Among the department's responsibilities is to keep records of all births and deaths in the state.

Anyone have any suggestions?

" Comning Togather Nicely! "

Me too Rick, I see pieces of the " Puzzle comning togather "every single day in the form of three or four Half million to a million dollar residential dewellings being completed on a daily basis ( come see it I CHALLENGE YOU)

Yes, I agree that God is truly building a City within a City here, and it surely MUST be all in his Divine Will otherwise it wouldn't be happening also the area of the property where the " Unwed Mother's Home " was located is now....being covered up with Townehomes with attached garages known as Fairway Townes At Regent Park.

I sincerely feel Blessed about being able to live in one of Fort Mill's newest Communities.

Keep Praying for The Two Ministries here.

Residential Area

I remember when PTL was located right smack in the middle of a residential area. It was about 24 acres. It worked really well. The folks that own that small piece of property seem to be doing well. I wish we had stayed over at the Park Road property. Moving to the larger parcel was when all the funny stuff seemed to start.

Residential Area

Yea ( D.C. ),
BUT........
Just think if we had stayed over in the Village on Park Road, all those little Babies that were saved from the vacuum and the garbage machines might NOT be enjoying happy lives NOW and all the Marriages which were saved and put back togather might not exist now either......I think....I am glad we moved to HERITAGE USA!!!!!!!!

There's no question that some big time mistakes were made at Heritage USA. No one can dispute that. However, when one looks at the big picture, look at all the wonderful things that God did through the people at Heritage USA. Babies that would have been aborted were saved and placed in loving Christian homes. Marriages that were headed for failure and divorce instead were gloriously restored.

It's so sad that some people are preoccupied about the negative aspects of what happened to bring down PTL and Heritage USA. But those negative things will never overshadow the wonderful things that God did in people's lives at Heritage USA.

I think Lady Star is right on with her comments. Had it not been for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, working through the people of PTL/Heritage USA; I think the lives of countless numbers of people wouldn't have been radically changed for the better.

It seems that the leadership of Heritage International Ministries (HIM) is striving to learn from the mistakes that PTL made, in order that they won't make the same mistakes. Right now I would have to say HIM is enjoying a great new start. I believe the best is yet to come.

God bless you all,
Rick

Heritage Village

What a neat place! Those were the best of the days. I think every church should have a swimming pool in the basement. There was a ladies prayer group in that residential area and the Lord spoke to them one day and said that the Word would be reach the world from their neighborhood. They thought it was impossible until Heritage Village was built. That was the site of the first dish that transmitted the Gospel to the entire world. I thought the meditation garden was far better than the walk of faith at Heritage. We also finacially supported a girls home so that was taken care of also. That was the coolest thing about Bakker. Instead of being against stuff he was for stuff. Anybody can carry a sign and shout at people. Few offer positive solutions.

NOT FORGETTING THE SHELTER FOR HOMELESS MEN

We must NOT forget how homeless Alcoholic and drug addicted men had their lives cleaned up and turned around and brought to the realization that there was a much better way of life and God truly loved them.

Park Road Villiage was much, much too small

Not forgetting either........how the BARN AUDITORIUM was much too small to accomodate the Sunday morning Worship Crowd and Folks were turned away because there wasn't enough room.

Not forgetting the night after night of precious Campmeeting services where various people were in charge Howard and Vestal Goodman being my most favorite.

The ole Lazy Boy location

I remember back when we were in the Lazy Boy studio that about half the studio audience was homeless people. They loved hearing Tammy sing. The security force was huge. 3. Don, Phil, and little ole me. We used to sit and play cards for something to do. Tammy Faye drove a Pinto stationwagon. None of us had no idea of what was to come. Jim would tell us he had just left a struggling TV ministry in California (TBN) and the PTL Network would one day be a world wide ministry. I think we all sensed he was something special. Then we left that for Heritage Village and the rest is history.

Video

Recent ebay video purchase. . .

I just received an original copy of a "TOGETHER" magazine dated May/June 1984 that I purchased from the [url] www.HorseCreekProductions.net store on the ebay site and wanted to inform others in this group who continue to have an avid interest in the former Heritage/PTL what a super edition it is! There are dozens of great pictures, with well-written descriptions of each one, great map of the entire original grounds, besides so many other interesting articles... all the aspirations, hopes and dreams that sadly enough never reached their intended goals and purposes.
