Everybody knows "homeless" people don't have "digital cameras". They used their cell phone cameras. Then using some really cheap stuff they bought at Radio Shack, they uploaded the stuff thru the old satellite. Yeah, thats what happened.

Don - you're so smart! That's exactly what happened. And it didn't even matter that those satellites are now located over in Charlotte behind the INSP studios, right? I'll bet they were able to beam their pictures directly from Heritage USA right across the border to INSP using some more of that Radio Shack equipment.
It's amazing the things you can do with Radio Shack bought equipment, some aluminum foil and a stick of chewing gum! Todd Group Moderator Yahoo! Heritage USA Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HeritageUSA |

Important Message from Jay Bakker concerning Tammy Faye
Hello Everyone:
I saw this note on the TammyFaye group site here on Yahoo and thought I would pass it along. In particular, you will want to take note of the third paragraph of Jay Bakker's letter. It appears Tammy has taken a turn for the worse, and things are "looking very bleak" for Tammy, according to Jay. To those of you who feel I am being an alarmist with this kind of news; all I can say is this word has come from a very credible and knowledgeable source. Jamie Charles (Jay) Bakker himself. Please let's all take a moment to lift this dear lady of God in prayer. God bless you all. In Christ's love and service, Rick Olson ---Forwarded Message Follows--- --- In TammyFaye@yahoogroups.com, "Nephi" <qNephi@...> wrote: I got the following email from Jay Bakker's organization, Viva La Revolution. In the third paragraph he talks about his mother Tammy Faye. Nephi ------------------------ Greetings To All. To begin, I'd like to send out a congratulations to Kenny and Kelli Myus on the birth of their baby, Emalee Elizabeth. Kelli was one of the original founders of Revolution along with me and Mike Wall in 1994. After working with Revolution for 9 years, she moved back to her home state of California with her husband to pursue a teaching career. Kelli's having babies and I just turned 30 - man we're getting old. Revolution has definitely endured some tough times in the past but last month has to be the hardest month we've ever gone through. Because of our current financial situation, Revolution had to let go all staff members except for Marc and myself. Fortunately everyone has decided to stay on as volunteers but this puts an obvious strain on us. In addition, we lost our office and had to move everything into Marc's house to continue day-to-day operations. We are adjusting to these new changes and February already offers a glimmer of hope but please consider supporting us financially if you're not doing so already and as always keep us in your prayers. Thank you all for your e-mails, letters and prayers concerning my mother's fight with cancer. She has been very sick the past few weeks and things are looking bleak - we are praying for a miracle. She is having a hard time breathing and swallowing as the cancer has invaded most of her body. This has been very difficult for our family and I have been taking a brief sabbatical this month to spend as much time as possible with her. I will also be immersing myself in personal study during this time as I reflect on what is truly important. Throughout February, we will have guest speakers at Revolution. Last week, my longtime personal friend D.E. Paulk of Grace Church in Stone Mountain spoke about the power of doubt; this week Stu talked about the importance of being united in prayer. This coming Monday, we will have a special Service dedicated to you - the listeners. A few members of the congregation will be talking about how Revolution has changed the way they look at God and Christianity. I would like to personally extend the invitation to our online listeners to send us your story which will be read by them as well. You can e-mail your responses to info@... Just make a note if you would like your message to be read anonymously. If you're in the Atlanta-area, we will be taking a trip to the King Center on Saturday, March 4. We planned this trip to observe the work of and pay tribute to not one but two civil rights pioneers: Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King. If you are interested in attending, send an e-mail to marc@... In closing, I would like to thank everyone again for their encouragement through these trying days. My friends in Wisconsin (Dan, Andrew, Niki and Greg @ San Damiano) and our former interns Jon and Steph in Lincolnton, NC. You're all family to me - thanks for keeping me going. During the construction of the Towers a construction worker was killed by the construction elevator. He dropped his cigarettes in the area underneath the unit and could not get back out in time and the elevator crushed him.
Sad deal. sm |

I forgot to mention, that when the janitor died, Jim (as well as most of the staff) was visibly upset, and generously promised to take care of the man's wife and child.

Rick,
With all the many, many construction projects going on I would agree with Dortch's statement. Accidents happen. sm |

Glenn you are right about the deaths. I remember the housekeeper that died. He was a really nice guy with a family. We were completing the barn adn he ws cleaning the men's bathroom floor. The barn was full of staff people. Jim Bakker, and Tammy Sue was there. There was a explosion and teh guy came out of the bathroom on fire. Don Hardister (security chief) and Paul King chased him down and put the fire out. I had always heard how weak stomached Jim Bakker was but I learned that day that it was just a tale. He knelt over the guy praying the whole time that Don and Paul worked on him. I had not worked there long and was young and those impressions are with me today. There were people there that would die to help each other. He lived for a few weeks but died. I was going to work there until I could find a better paying job but afer witnessing this I stayed for 9 years working in the security department. It did not matter what department you worked in everyone was treated the same. Most of the time anyway. It was not perfect but I think as close as it gets. I know it was the best security department that I have ever woked at. The guys really had each others backs and worked together. If you didn't you didn't last long. We answered every kind of call you can imagine. I remember one summer a camper was shot in the back of the head by a small caliber bullet. It was a stray bullet that came out of the woods somewhere and hit this guy while he was sitting on a picnic table. At first we thought it was a bee sting but an xray revealed a bullet just under the skin. One summer it was so hot we had to hire emt's to come help with all the heat related first aid calls. One night one of our female productions workers was kidnapped from the barn parking lot. She was taken at gun point and was released unharmed in Pineville. The kidhapper made her drive past the guard house on the way out. I can not express to you in words what it was like during that time in the security department knowing she had gone right out past us. Mike Richardson and Don Hardister promised her they would not go to bed until tehy had him in custody. If those guys made yhou a promise you could take it to the bank. Not too many people like that now a days. True to their word Mike and Don had their man three days later with no sleep. Those were exciting times. I now watch Jim Bakker on Direct TV. While older I think he still generates quite a bit of excitment.

Post#163 describes very well the Jim Bakker I knew, A loving generous kind man with a giving heart, he did demand that employees give their best for which he always received a lot of flack and criticism from many employees, much which came after he and Tammy were gone they were just Satan's bullets aimed at Jim & Tammy and were fired by Satan's Imps.

The stories of Jim Bakkers generosity has never really been told. And how good he was to the staff has not been told either. He really cared about the people that worked for him. And Tammy did too. I hope Jim's new wife is like that. Tammy loved the security guys. I worked at Heritage Village for a year and then at Heritage USA for 2 years and then was promoted to work at Jim;s house. I worked 2nd shift. Every night and i mean every night Tammy would send food out to the guys working there. We nearly starved when she was not there but she saw to it that we were fed. Jim and Tammy would call you by your first name and most of the time could remember your wife and children names. The guys hat worked at their house always got a turkey at Thanksgiving and a $50 bonus at Christmas. I know that does not seem like a lot but when you had a family it really helped. I was not married at the time but most of the guys were and we did not make a lot of money. One afternoon Jim was walking around the yard and saw me in the guardhouse. He would always come up to speak. I was sitting there with a big smile on my face because I had just found out that my parents were coming to town for a visit the following weekend. Jim asked me why I was smiling so big and I told him why. I told him that myh dad was a Baptist minister and was not real happy when I took the job at PTL. But when he saw how happy I was he was all for it. He asked what I had planned for them and I told him all our funds were low but we would just all be happy being together. He said that;s good son, that's good. He left. About an hour later he came back out to the guardhouse told me he would be out of town over the weekend and laid his boat key on the counter. He said well I guess you will be needing this while your folks are here and then handed me a $100 bill and said this is from Tammy. After boating she wants to make sure you can all go out to eat together. I told him I just could not accept all that. His reply was someone might be out of a job if he came home and the boat had gas in it. No one knew but I cried after he left. This was repeated many times to all the security guys at the house while I worked there. I personally know of people he gave down payments to for homes. One of the guys had to leave his car at Jim;s house for several days because it would not start and he did not have the money to have it towed. Jim inquired about the vehicle and found out the story. Jim had the car towed to a garage and paid to have it repaired. I could tell you about airline tickets he paid for people needing to go visit sick family members and the like. You don't read many of the stories in the Charlotte Observer. He was not a perfect man and he was very demanding but you knew he really cared about you. I;m not sure I have had a boss like that since.
