Me in hiding??
I would have no earthly reason what so ever to be " In Hiding " I tell the truth at all times, never hedge or stretch the honest truth as it is, and it is beyond the life of me just why it is that a few ( 3 or 4 ) people insists on trying to claim that so much more is happening in the form of " RESTORATION " when the Honest to God's Truth is it is limited to 3 0r 4 Ministries by name the rest of the property is covered with more than 1,000 new homes and dwellings with more being constructed daily, why people can't or choose not to be 100% truthful in speaking about the place. Folks I live here on the property, I know and see what is here and what is happening on a daily basis, I am so thankful that the place is not just decaying buildings and shoulder high weeds anymore, but why others choose to try and make it sound so much more extensive.....well they will be the ones who have to account for themselves and not me!! Blessings To You All

Now I would call this a kinder and gentler Lady Star. I think this is a Lady Star we can all live with. Lady Star, nice to see you give your opinion and not crush everyone. I for one agree with you. It is what it is. But we all know a little sugar helps the medicine go down.

Lady Star, I was totally kidding about the "in hiding" thing. I think we are all aware of the booming residential development activity which is taking place out there. I think we are also aware of the fact that there are only three or four ministries presently located on the property out there, all of which are using facilities that were operated by PTL at one time or another while Heritage USA was open.
I suppose a good bit of attention will now be upon the three or four ministries which are presently located on the property and how they will be able to co-exist with their neighbors who live in the residential areas. More of which are being constructed every day. Am I on the right track so far? I agree with HeritageLt in that I believe we all appreciate Lady Star's kinder and gentler tone. The TRUTH has been revealed and I've always heard said " The Truth Will Stand When The World is On Fire " Thanks Rick and Former PTL'ER/AKA HeritageLt.
I just wonder now how long it will be before one will be reading either in this site or the other site, that such Grandiose things are happening which may or may not be TRUE. Please keep the TRUTH in the forefront Guys!!! Keep your supenders straight! |

OH yeah....McMooses...the rumor was they were grillin up the camels from the Amp theater...remember thinking those burgers were a little tough..
Spent a lot of time in the Wagon Wheel...it was used for a short while as a youth center when my older brother helped out...and then the time that Dexter Yager rented it out for his staff for a Christmas party...I was a warehouse manager for him before God told me to go to work out at HUSA...but I remember more the time when we were headed to The Hampton Court for lunch after the show(working at HUSA now for a while) and the Howard and Vestal wanted fried chicken...so we(me and Dortch) escorted them to the WW and had the best fried chicken I ever ate.....am missing the Goodmans bout now... sm |

My fav was the Little Horse. The food was really good there. Sad to see that it is no longer standing. But one thing for sure, they can't sell or tear down our memories. I took my date there one time. And the game room was close by. What fun! I loved the pig also. I think somebody up in Charlotte owns that thing. Was anybody there when we first got the property that became Heritage USA? Remember the staff work days. We all went out to Heritage on Saturday and worked on the grounds clearing stuff and the like. Jim would feed everybody and we just had a ball. It was hard work but so worth it.

I think I was still in college when the property was bought although I do have a lot of memories from the Park Rd property and even the Independence furniture store property.
Speaking of hard work....I remember in the summer of 89' when we had no money and the staff was quickly being let go, the remaining staff (at least some of us) would come together on Saturday's (not on the clock) and walk all the main roads with weed whackers and lawn mowers and try to fend off the weeds that were taking over. Eventually the weeds won but we went down fighting:-) sm |

SM1961, just spent some time reading thru this thread and realized who your father was. I think you know all the security guys loved you father. I talked with you a few times in the hallway outside Jim's dressing room before the show. My name is Jerald. Does that bring back memories for you. Do you remember **** Hall? He was teh security guy that looked just like Johnny Carson. I think the show going on in that hallway was better than what went out over the air. Do you remember the time Richard Roberts (Oral's son) was back in the green room down the hall from Jim's dressing room and when he was walking to the stage Hardister jumped out and handcuffed him before he knew what hit him. Only thing was Hardister did not have a key and could not get him out before the show started so they laid a coat across his lap until Jim could go to music and security could get them off. I'll bet we don't ever see that in a book somewhere. That hallway was crazy. We should do a blooper thread. Working for Jim and Tammy was the most fun I have ever had. Hardister was the best pratical joker of all time. But I remember when the tables got turned on him. Bakker set him up but good. They pulled up to the side door at WOC. Jim told Don to stay in the car because he would be right back. Then when he got inside the building he motioned for Don to come in. When Don got out of the car, Roger Flessing and Sam Orender open up on him from the 3rd floor with water ballons. They had a film crew there and played it on family night. I remember the howls of laughter like it was yesterday.

Yes Jerald I remember you and JC. Don H. and I have had some mutual friends and have had lunch together over the years when I was back up visiting in the Carolinas.
Thanks for the kind word about my Father...I miss him. Oh yeah...The hallway. Seems like I spent more time in that place than anywhere else. I remember once before the show and we were all standing in the hallway and Richard Simmons (little fat exercise sissy) was walking through to the studios and punched me in the stomach...just out of reaction I almost knocked him out but I figured I may not be standing in the hallway anymore...lol. I went to a Morningstar conference (I think it was 96') that was in the barn. It was the first one Jim spoke at after prison. I went around into that hallway and it felt very weird. I met with Jim for a short while back in the old green room and finally got closure.(my problem not his) He was very gracious. Good thing that hallway had big rocks on the walls because paint would not have stood up.... sm |

D Hall was a real character. I worked for him for a short time at the hotel. Things were just a little too slow around there for me. Not sure if were working at the hotel at the time but I think it was back in 1985 we had an officer Cindy whose father was Dr Al Wallace. Her husband was a Charlotte Police officer and he was killed in the line of duty. She was on duty with me that night and the Charlotte Police came racing in and took her to the hospital. I will never forget that night. We lost D Hall some years ago to cancer and also John Howe. Howe was on the travel team that I had hoped to make but never did. I heard some of those wild stories from the road. I'm glad you got to meet with Jim. I never did. Would like to. I would thank him for the great job I had for the time I had it. I have been waiting for someone other than Mike Richardson from security to write a book. His was purely fiction. The guy only worked a few months and writes a book like he was an expert. Even took credit for coming up with the idea for the hotel. Would love to have one more of those McMoose burgers!

Al & Esther and Cindy live down my way. They live in Daytona with Cindy's two sons. My parents were/are life long friends of theirs. My mother & I spent some time with them last year.
Yeah, I never even heard of Mike Richardson until his book. If a book is written it should be by D. Hardister...he never will and it should probably stay that way. While you and I and a few others would enjoy the funny stories most people would never buy a book unless it was about scandal and he would never do that. You probably also heard that John Howe's ex-wife Chris Howe (she worked in the Hotel) died a couple of months ago in a car accident. sm |
