Wow! I had no idea of your connections. I know Dr Wallace when he worked at PTL. He was a really nice guy. Cindy came to work in security. I will never forget one day she drove over to the rock quarry to do a property check and when she got over there she called for back up. We all tore off over there as fast as we could and when we got there she had about 15 outlaw motorcycle guys lined up for trespassing. It was the funnest thing I ever saw. She's holding them at gun point. I remember Hardister saying "I'm a dead man if this gets back to her dad." I don't think it ever did. I am really sorry to hear about John's ex-wife. I had not heard. I had forgotten that she worked at the hotel. I saw her at John's funeral but did not get to speak with her. Guess that leaves two boys with no mom and dad. Sad. I wish we could do a reunion or something. That would really be something. Do you ever hear from David or James Taggart? I heard some tikme ago that Shirley Fulbright had remarried. She was a nice lady. I also liked David and James. I think someone told me hyou work at a radio station and it started some type of revival.

I remember that story about Cindy..lol.
Have not seen or heard from the Taggert's since I testified at David's trial. Apparently nobody can find them as I just watched (online) WBTV's report "PTL...20 years later" and they searched for them and could not find them. They obviously don't want to be found.
Yes, Randy Clark (from the Toronto Revival) was doing an interview at my station back in 1995 and God showed up...too long to list all the amazing things God did that day and the following year. That day changed my life forever. It is funny now that people all over the world have listed it as part of Christian history...and it all happened right here in little old Vero Beach, Florida.
You can listen to the station at www.christianfm.com yes that is a plug..but hey it is great music!
It would be great to have some type of reunion but that probably won't happen as people are scattered all over the place.

Sad today at the passing of Dr Falwell. I have no clue who said what to who or what promises were made by either side in the whole PTL downfall but I must say that Dr Falwell treated the security staff at Heritage very well.

It would be even more Wonderful if we all had the good sense to not be discussing each other's Funerals before they are a need for them???

Oh Lady Star, you make so much good common sense at times to then turn and put your great big old foot in your teeny little mouth. You forget. I was there. Not physically but very close to the real deal. There were five men behind closed doors. Mark DeMoss, Dr Falwell, Richard Dortch, Jim Bakker, Don Hardister. Those are the only five men on the face of this earth that truly know what the real deal was. I think most of them at one time or another have talked some about broken promises and the like. But none have talked about the meeting in that room. I was not there in body but I had close personal friends that were there and I can tell you one thing for sure there were no outsiders there. So don't even go there that you have tape. Not so.

How is that foot tasting? There you go again with that I've got the tape deal. If you in fact had something it would have been sold to the Inquirer long ago. I believe your history shows you go ballistic when you pretend to have some inside information that everyone with as much brain as a chigger knows does not exist. Please get off the I've got information no one else has and just stick to the personal attacks and name calling. Your creativity with the name calling is really cool. I enjoy that part of your personality so much more. Next thing we know you will be talking about black helicopters and area 54. Oh by the way!! I do have some really cool close personal friends.

You are for all practical purposes no longer a worthwhile existing peice of Humanity therefore....any future posts I make will NOT be to you, about you, or pertaining to you, in fact you simply don't understand one statement from the other, you simply DO NOT grasp the SUBJECT of a post.

You are done, over and out!!!!!!!!!

Lady Star, thanks, I appreciate it. Seems you only want a one sided very pointed exchange. I enjoy reading everyones point of view. Including yours. I think it takes everyones opinion to have balance. I am not upset by you. I will miss your comedy routine if you in fact hold true to your word (which I seriously doubt). I'm definitely not done, it ain't over and I'm very much in and not out.

Anybody seen the Jim Bakker Show with Jo Ann Cash. It is one of the best he has ever done I believe. Even if you are not a Johnny Cash fan you will love this show. Go to his website and watch. It was May 4. You don't want to miss it. One of the program guests prayers the sinners prayer. He gets saved right there on the show.

PTL Inquiry

This may be an odd question for a forum. Anyway, I am a historian at the University of Kentucky trying to get information PTL for a reasearch project. I am trying to write a history of the movement, something that has not been done. I want to gather as much oral history as I can. I would like to interview as many people as possible. If you were involved with PTL as a member or an employee or in some other way I would love to talk to you about your experiences and impressions. Also, if you know of other people I can talk to please let me know. Please send me an email. Also, feel free to contact me if you have questions about this project.

My email address is eric.weinberg@uky.edu

Re: Post #223 Eiweinbe Request for PTL info

While I do not know Mr. Eric Weinberg, nor have anything against him, I am concerned with Mr. Weinberg's statements that he is a "Historian" in the above post. This statement could suggest to others that Mr. Weinberg is a Professor at UKY, which according to the UKY faculty list, is not true.

In another PTL forum Mr. Weinberg adds he is a "Teaching Assistant" Teaching assistants are typically undergrad/grad students that are hired to help the Professors with classroom duties (assisting with labs, tests, mentoring, etc.) and are not faculty. Mr. Wienberg is not listed as a Professor or Instructor on the UKY's website, but is listed as a student studying history. (A Google search verifies that, and shows he is studying 19th-20th Century U.S. History; and gave a recent presentation on "In Pure Air-FDR and Rural Environmentalism"). His email address is the same as listed on this forum and the other PTL forum.

I do not know what type of research he is doing, nor the purpose thereof (I hope it is positive), but "Historians" should be plain in their facts. It is up to the other readers to determine whether to help or not. I have cc'd a copy of my concern to Mr. Weinberg.

In His Service,

Glenn Martell. M.Div. J.D.

(former teaching assistant at several colleges and universities, including HSEC)

More Clarification

I am sorry my credidentials were misleading. I certainly did not intend to mislead. By labeling myself as a historian, I did not mean to imply that I am a tenure track faculty member at this univeristy--although many of them are on my committe and will vouch or me if you desire. As I have told people who have inquired, I am a PH.D. student working on my dissertation. I am ABD, which means that I have finnished all of my classwork for my doctorate(sometimes also refered to as a doctoral candidate). Students who are awarded an asistanship here usally TA while working on there dissertation. Sometimes, when or 2 years of TAing runs out we work as PTIs(part time instructors). Most students preffer the TA because it allows for more travel and research. Anyway, I also did my MA work at Kent State in Ohio where I was also a TA. As a TA, I have lectured, led my own sections, constructed tests and graded many papers. I do not
teach my own classes but at UK there are a lot of department that assign TA's there own classes(English for example).

My reasearch is focused on what led people to join PTL. I think plenty has been done on the downfall. I am focused on why people joined. Nothing I have read has focused on this question and I think this perspective is missing. I am not sure if this is considered 'positive,' but I have no intrest in denigrating the movement as many people in the media have done. Rather, I want to hear the perspectives of people who joined. If anyone has questions about the nature of this reasearch please feel free to contact me; I can ceratinly give more information. If requested I can post more information about my reasearch or my background. I hope this is clear. I am extremly sorry about the confusion.
