Jim, Laurie and Tammy on TV
To all,
I surely wish I could have checked out Larry King and saw Jim and Laurie, with Tammy on video. Can any one elaborate onthe show? Was the whole show about Jim, Laurie and Tammy, or just a small portion? JT |

Hi All,
On Larry King last night, Larry interviewed Jim Bakker via TV about Tammy Faye's cancer. He said he and his wife are praying for her. The kids are taking it very hard. Tammy Faye is going to undergo chemo-therapy at Eisenhower Medical Center next week, I think. Jim said that that colon cancer that Tammy had is the cancer in her lungs. She didn't have chemo when she had the colon cancer removed, and it came back - this time in her lungs - one next to her heart, and two others, one of which is on her vocal chords. Jim said it is getting hard for her to talk. Then a surprise visit via TV from Tammy Faye. She looked pretty good, under the circumstances. She is trying to stay very positive, but she said she's getting more scared since she's going into the hospital. Then, Jim and Laurie talked to Larry. Jim has a new show "The New Jim Bakker show" that is in a working restaurant in Branson Missouri. He says that it's already on some stations here in the USA, and some other countries. He and Laurie also talked about their 5 children. They are all hispanic and Jim says Laurie wants to bring more home!! After that, Laci Peterson's parents were on for a few minutes talking about the Laci-Conor Law that President Bush signed today. Glad I could relay this to you. Take care! |

JIM SAID THE RUMOUR IS HERITAGE HAS BEEN SOLD.
I AGREE IT WAS GREAT TO SEE JIM ON LARRY. I WANTED TO GO TO BRANSON BEFORE HE WAS THERE. NOW I WANT TO GO EVEN MORE. HAVEN'T FOUND A WAY TO GET THE SHOW HERE IN UPSTATE N.Y. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF AN AMERICAN BASED SATELITE COMPANY OFFERS IT LIKE DISH NETWORK ETC. ..TAMMY LOOKED LIKE SHE HAD LOST WEIGHT SINCE THE LAST APPEARENCE AND WAS WEARING A WIG. WE NEED TO REALLY PRAY FOR HER. PEOPLE WHO CALLED IN IGNORED LORI BAKKER AND THAT WAS INSENITIVE. THE CURRENT PLANS FOR HERITAGE STILL REMAIN UNCLEAR INCLUDING TO JIM.

THANKS RICK
I know about the TCT on line link for Jim Bakker . This morning since I was off from my regular overnight shift I did try to load the show but for some reason it didn't work. It had loaded fine the night before when we tested it for another show .Of course 1am EST is a bad time. I need to get a DVD burner-lol. Jim said on Larry he is in 60 sixties and many foriegn countries. I guess New York is the most expensive market to try and buy time on . One cheap way is to buy time on Access channels. Local access is free but you can purchase out of your area access at a cheap rate. Thats how Jimmy Swaggart was able to stay on when he hit rock bottom...Larry King usually reruns the best show of the week on Saturday nights and in the past they have selected the shows with the Bakker's on. Jim impressed me as very mature and well spoken on Larry. He has been through hell and refined by God. You can't keep a talented man like this down. !

Re: THANKS RICK
Yes, I have seen the Jimmy Swaggart Telecast numerous times on the local access channel of our cable TV system. Jimmy's a whole different story for another time. I think it would be a good idea for Jim and Lori Bakker should look into the cable TV access route. They obviously have an uplink in Branson to beam their program out to the satellite with. Jim was one of the pioneers of television by satellite with the PTL Satellite Network/The Inspirational Network. So, I am sure he's well conversant in that technology.
You're right. Jim won't be kept down. He's paid his debt to society; God has forgiven him and it appears to be clear sailing for he and Lori in their new work with the "Studio City Cafe" there in Branson, Mo. Personally, I would be thrilled if Paul and Jan Crouch would offer Jim a timeslot for his new show on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. It would be great if David Cerullo would offer Jim a timeslot on INSP. After all, the INSP network that is seen on cable and satellite television across the country is none other than the former PTL Satellite Network/The Inspirational Network. Morris Cerullo (David's evangelist father) put in a bid for and was awarded the satellite network in PTL's bankruptcy proceedings. It doesn't appear that the Jim Bakker Show will get on either TBN or INSP anytime soon, though it certainly could happen, if it is God's will. Tammy, as you may remember, wrote in her book that there were some issues between the Bakker's and the Crouch's. She wasn't specific about the issues. As you may remember, Jim and Tammy helped Paul and Jan launch TBN out there in California. It would be a wonderful way to "bury the hatchet" (if there is one to be buried). It was when they left TBN and arrived in Charlotte where Jim and Tammy launched the PTL Club. Last edited by Rick4404 : 04-02-04 at 04:02 PM. |

I USED TO LOVE TBN
At one time I used to watch TBN more than any other Network . However by the 90's it seemed Paul began to let more and more questionable Preachers and so called prophets on. I just can't watch the Dollars, Whites, Bynums, Hickeys of this world. I always tried to catch Casy Treat but now he's gone. I still try to catch Jack Hayford on Sunday nights and stop to watch Paul or others on Behind the scenes or Praise, but often I am turned off by the guests . I respect diversity. Would never question anyone's salvation but some of the speakers are an embarrasment to the cause of Christ. In Charles Shepards book he says that the infighting between Paul and Jim Bakker was so bad, shouts of " This is my ministry " could be heard all over the building. Another road block I would think for TBN would simply be time availability . They are pretty booked up . I agree though Rick it would be wonderful to have Jim and Lori on TBN even if it was just the best show of the week on the weekend. Another Network is the WORD network which my cable company is now offering for an extra fee. I'm hoping to go to Branson this summer, need to make sure they will be there that week. Hopefully we will soon know what the plans are for Heritage. It was so strange to walk and drive through it and see the closed sign in front of the upper room. It just didn't seem right.

Re: I USED TO LOVE TBN
I have to agree with you about TBN. Our local cable company replaced TBN with INSP a number of years ago. Neither would I question anyone's salvation, but some of the so-called evangelists, preachers and speakers on TBN are an embarrassment to the cause of Christ. I'm glad that someone spoke up as I have had the same concerns. I am one of the moderators of an invitation-only group over on Yahoo called PTLHERITAGEUSA.
Thanks for the mention of Charles Shappard's book. I had understood that Jim Bakker and Paul Crouch had a falling out; but I did not have enough of a recollection of it, or information at my disposal in which to make a mention of it. This is the Internet after all, and you never know who might be reading a post; and I sure don't want to be posting any information would could be perceived to be libelous or slanderous in nature. It truly is the best to leave disagreements like that alone. It's not our job to judge, speculate or re-open old wounds. I hope that someday Jim and Paul will be able to settle their differences in a true Christian fashion. That certainly seems to be the $64,000 question surrounding the former Heritage USA property. What are God's plans for it? Who will emerge with a serious offer for the property and will the owners even want to sell to a Christian ministry? Last edited by Rick4404 : 04-02-04 at 06:54 PM. |

FOUND MYSELF RE READING THE PTL STORY BOOKS
I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN RICK ABOUT THOSE OLD WOUNDS. TO BE CLEAR I STILL HAVE A LOT OF RESPECT FOR PAUL CROUCH EVEN THOUGH I DON'T UNDERSTAND SOME OF HIS CHOICES. LIKE JIM BAKKER I'M SURE PAUL IS A MUCH MORE MATURE SAINT TODAY WHO GOD HAS USED TO BUILD THE WORLDS LARGEST NETWORK. CHARLES SHEPHARD CERTAINLY PUT A LOT OF WORK INTO HIS HUGE BOOK BUT I FEEL THERE WAS NEVER ANY INTENT BY JIM TO HURT THE PARTNERS BY OFFERING ROOMS TO LIFETIME PARTNERSHIPS THAT WOULDN'T BE AVAILABLE. IN FACT WHEN HE WAS STOPPED HE WAS JUST ABOUT TO COMPLETE THE TOWERS WHICH WOULD HAVE PROVIDED MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOMS FOR PARTNERSHIPS OFFERED. JIM'S ATTORNEYS WERE ABLE TO PROVE THAT BY APPLYING SIMPLE MATH BUT THE COURT DID NOT SEEM INTERESTED. ALL OF THE PTL STORY BOOKS WERE GOOD . EVEN IF WHAT AUSTIN MILES WROTE IN THE BEGINNING OF " DON'T CALL ME BROTHER "IS TRUE , I THINK JIM EXPLAINED THE REASONS FOR THAT IN HIS BOOK AND AGAIN TODAYS JIM BAKKER HAS BEEN CHANGED BY GOD. IF HE RETURNED TO HERITAGE TODAY HE WOULD DO THINGS MUCH DIFFERENTLY. PAYROLL WOULD BE MUCH SMALLER FOR HIMSELF AND HIS TOP PEOPLE. HE HAS LEARNED THE LESSON ABOUT THE TAINTED PROSPERITY DOCTRINE. SO. I GUESS I FEEL THE PTL STORY HAS A VALUBLE LESSON ABOUT REPENTENCE, PERSONAL HOLINESS AND SECOND CHANCES FROM GOD... I BELONG TO AN OPEN YAHOO GROUP ON HERITAGE BUT IT'S KINDA SLOW GOING.

HAPPY RESSURECTION DAY !
Well it seems this Thread has slowed down and now the yahoo open Heritage USA group is over ( only about 6 posts in 6 weeks) I believe it is vital to be able to discuss all aspects of the Heritage/PTL/Bakker story because it allows those who hate Jim Bakker and can't understand why someone would admire him some information as to why we feel that way. The best source of info is his book " I was wrong ". He vividly illustrates his mistakes, shortcomings, biggest secret and the path God took him on to change him from the inside out. Public figures don't enjoy the same level of privacy as the average Joe but I certainly agree a Christian has to strive to stay clear of gossip .It's a fine line between gossip and benificial discussion of the facts . I realize that. The world thinks we are stupid to find value in Heritage usa and hold admiration of Jim Bakker. a former reporter for The Charlotte Observer (not Shepard) thinks Jims new show indicates he has not changed. In an editorial he states that Bakker is still laying heavy on fundraising inviting people to join various clubs that represent levels of giving . He indicates the level of excitement that Jim and Tammy brought to the PTL Club is gone. Of course this venus is much smaller and there is only one Tammy. Critics don't realize that it takes thousands of dollars tp pay for TV time. You can;t sit there and not mention the need because in a short time you'll be off the air. Jim is very skillful in getting people excited about the ministry. Thats why without Jim , a new Heritage probably woudn't work. A huge studio audience helps raise the excitement. The writer of the editorial /review says Jim still closes his show by saying- " God loves you. He really does " .

Jacks Comment
Hello,
Jack, and all . I believe you have a point with Jim Bakker. If Jim lead the way, it could have started something, and he could draw the crowds. It just doesnt make sense though. I dont think Jim will come back to all this. According to his book he has a new, more humble direction, but if you watch his show, he is sounding like the old Jim. If Jim would bring some people along, and keep his new humble roots, the combination could work. |

I THINK JIM WOULD COME BACK
I think JT Jim would come becauese he said so on Larry King in 2000. He said under the right circumstances he would . Back then he and football player Reggie White were looking into it. Today in 2004 I think he would still come back if the finances could be worked out. The new TV outreach would benifit from such a glorious return and it would be a demonstation of the God of second chances. Jim said in a recent daily devotional on his website that he must admit he still believes that God still wants to prosper his people but he believes God's people must not develop sticky fingers. He know longer believes in extravagant personal lifesyles, laying up riches for oneself on earth. How much Jim has really changed of course only God knows. I wish I could get the daily Jim Bakker show other than on the computer at 1am. I agree that Heritage reopening with Jim is a longshot. It would take most likely one wealthy person or ministry to get together with Jim and approach the current owner.

unfair things with the Jim & Tammy situation
As I think of the unfair situations that happened with Jim and Tammy and PTL, I have to feel that God was in control and allowed all of this - now I don't mean that he meant for Tammy to divorce Jim etc. I think Tammy missed what God really had for her in the long run but she will never know that.
I know a Pastor who got off track. He had quite a lot, all types of programs that impacted the area, great respect from all, He was on TV, speaking everywhere, had his own radio station and he also had a sin that he was not dealing with and covering up ( we all sin) - his sin affected others and was sexual even though he didn't actually commit adultery that I know of, but he took advantage of many women by improper touching. Many woman suffered horribly because of him, and those who worked for him suffered the very worse. This pastor has had the most "unfair" things happen to him in the past few years. Every program he began was shut down because of a Pastor he trusted who came to the rescue of the church and actually in a sense is worse than the Pastor who had the problem. The new pastor is unforgiving, self righteous, and downright nasty. This is the person the other pastor trusted. Due to the self righteous heart of the trusted new pastor, he has halted everything the older pastor put into effect - as of now only 30 people attend the church. He also covered up the sin of the pastor and it festers all over what is left of the church. The radio station is the only safe and alive organization because it was transfered to the person who actually ran it for years, and the station is not part of the church - and has moved and changed call letters, format etc. - I guess you could say that was completely removed too. In looking at the comparisons of each of these ministries (PTL & the Pastor I am referring to), it's uncanny. The only thing left of PTL is the satellite network and everything else is gone - as is everything the Pastor owned. His name was removed from the church illegally, and many things which seemed unfair were done but I have to wonder if God didn't give many warnings to both of these ministries and they were not heeded and we are seeing the results of each of these ministry's eyes not being on Jesus. It's just a thought as I read the similarities and something for us all to think about since it can happen to any of us if we get our focus on the work and not who we are working for. Jerry Fallwell and the new Pastor seem so similiar - the rumors that were spread within the leadership of the church about the old powerful pastor to get him removed were right in line with how Jerry F. did it. Yes, he needed to step down but it was not done scripturally, and there were many lies added to the already serious problem. Something to think about - I think it was taken out of the hands of everyone in both instances and God stepped in - not that He couldn't use Jim & Tammy, He is now but perhaps He couldn't then because we put them higher in a sense than they should have been. |

Hello
It has been a while since I visited these sites and was wondering
what the lastest thing that was on people's mind. I am curious to know who thinks Heritage will be restored. Not, if it is God's will, I know it is God's will. I want to know your opinion on the good or bad of the restoration of Heritage USA. Doesn't it excite you to know that it is going to happen. Or maybe it frightens you. I don't know. Both are valid sides to be on. One could reason either side. But what do you sense God is about to do with the place. I believe you know how I feel. Sincerely, Keith Smith

GUT FEELING
KEITH : I THINK HERITAGE REOPENING WOULD BE A WONDERFUL THING ESPECIALLY IF JIM BAKKER RETURNED. AFTER ALL HE BUILT IT AND COULD GENERATE THE EXCITEMENT TO MAKE IT WORK . AS FOR IT BEING GOD'S WILL , I DON'T KNOW. I RESPECT PEOPLE WHO FEEL THEY HAVE HEARD FROM GOD BUT WE ALL KNOW PEOPLE SOMETIMES HEAR INCORRECTLY. I FEEL THE IDEA OF FINDING 10,000 PEOPLE WHO CARE ENOUGH ABOUT HERITAGE TO HELP FUND THE PURCHASE IS UNREALISTIC. LOOK HOW QUIET THIS THREAD IS. I THINK IT WOULD MORE LIKELY BE ONE PERSON OR MINISTRY THAT WOULD DECIDE THEY WOULD SPEND THE MILLIONS TO DO IT BECAUSE THEY LOVED HERITAGE. PEOPLE WILL NOT SEND MONEY FOR VAGUE PLANS BECAUSE THEY FEAR THEY ARE BEING SCAMMED. I'M NOT SAYING YOU ARE OUT TO DO THAT BUT PEOPLE HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING. BESIDES, THE NEW OWNER HAS TO BE WILLING TO SELL AND THE BUILDINGS DEEMED RESTORABLE. FORT MILL HAS TO AGREE TO THE REOPENING. THERE ARE A THOUSAND ISSUES ! THEN IF ALL THAT IS WORKED OUT AND THE WRONG PERSON IS AT THE HELM, IT WON'T WORK. YOU NEED TO BE ON TV EVERYDAY GETTING PEOPLE EXCITED ABOUT COMING TO HERITAGE. TO ME, THAT REQUIRES JIM BAKKER OR SOMEONE VERY MUCH LIKE HIM .MORRIS CERULLO NEVER HAD A CHANCE.
