One reason that you shouldn't get the AOL Disc to look at profiles is because AOL corrupts your system. It installs files in almost all of your folders so that when you go to uninstall it, it messes up your machine. They do that so that you will stay with AOL because they realize there are cheaper and better ISPs out there. I would like to be able to see AOL Profiles too. I once had AOL, but i discovered the error of my ways. I escaped the Matrix, doesn't mean i wouldn't like to look inside every once in a while.

AOL's installer doesn't really make any PC changes that our out of the ordinary. It installs it's own program and registry settings, a custom network adapter, and makes customizations to the Internet Explorer browser. Some versions also offer to install RealPlayer, and/or make AOL your default internet application. This really isn't out of the ordinary for an internet provider installation. |

AOL IS A VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK ...the keyword here being "PRIVATE".
Virtual Private Network...VPN. Look it up. Find out more about what it is and why they exist, thenh you will know why you cannot view AOL profiles unless you are a member of AOL...not AIM, because AIM is a third party application. AIM does not belong to AOL. A short definition for a VPN. Short for virtual private network, a network that is constructed by using public wires to connect nodes. For example, there are a number of systems that enable you to create networks using the Internet as the medium for transporting data. These systems use encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted. When you first sign on to AOL...using the AOL software...you on only on AOL's network. You are not on the World Wide Web (www) until you type in a www. URL and go out to the web. AOL has it's own content that can be accessed by using AOL keywords or options in the AOL menus. When you go to www.aol.com, you are on a website...not on the AOL network. All of the features you get, using the AOL software, are not available at the website. So, stop all your whining. If you want to see AOL MEMBER'S profiles, become an AOL member! (the keyword here being MEMBER!) Do you really think that just because I use the internet, I should be able to view any information you place on the internet about yourself? I think not. It's priviledged info...for member's only, of that site (club), network, webring, etc. You have to be a member. |

You can see profiles on those pages only if the person on aol has a journal or they made their own web page, other then if they only have a profile u have to have aol.

(MEANING Member) so now theyll have a AIM Profile and AOL Member Profile...........JUST ASK THEM TO SIGN ON BOTH.........I Dont Like This Ether But I Havent Tryed This.......Does it work or not.........Im Mad Too So Dont Think Im On AOL's side.
