AIM And AOL Screen Names

Hi! I have two different screen names. One is on AOL. One is on AIM. I really want to make my AIM screen name on an AOL account. Is this possible? If so how do i make the switch! Please help! Thanks!

Welcome to TIW!

There is only one way to convert an AIM screen name into an AOL screen name, and that is by signing up for another AOL account. When you do so you'll be provided the option to upgrade an AIM screen name into an AOL one. I imagine this is not what you wanted to hear, and I too wish there was a better and cheaper option, but one currently doesn't exist. You can always make a suggestion to AOL at Keyword: SUGGESTION though.

I have a similar problem......but it's sort of the opposite.....I have an aol account, and so I can use that screen name on aim. My family is thinking about cancelling our aol accounts, however, and I was wondering if there was a way to turn my aol screen name into an aim account....so I can keep my name after my aol is gone....help me!! Is there a way???

All you ahve to do, is go to AIM.com and find the part of the website that says : I AM ALREADY AN AOL USER. Click that! This willlet you use ur AOL sn on AIM

I've already done that.....I use my aol name on aim as it is.....but will I still be able to when my aol account is gone?

Unfortunately, no. AOL has adopted a policy of suspending AIM screen names when the AOL account is cancelled. Personally, I think it's evil.

yes.. I had an account on AOL and it was suspended wen the AOL aco**** wen up.. i wasnt using aol.. it came wit my computer for freee for 1 year wen i got it.. and now my account is suspended.. i used it on aim

not true, I had an aol account and I had a screen name of course, and i signed up for AIM on that screen name so I could use it for both AOL and AIM.... and then I cancelled my AOL account, and my AIM still works to this day... only problem, AOL detects it as an aol screen name, and i can't make the same screen name on aol anymore...

So there, it isn't true

Actually, it most definitely is true. It started in March 2003 or so, and has been confirmed by many people.
