You don't.
Have you tried talking to the people in charge at your school (principal) about this? Many school administrators don't know how badly the filtering is affecting using the computers for useful tasks. If you make them aware of it by giving legitimate examples, you might give them incentive to get the filter configured better. |

Somehow I think that an IT person smart enough to set up the software in the first place would be smart enough to block simple things like anon net surfting software.
In most schools, you can't download software ... even through an ActiveX control like this. So, yeah, you're right.. in a situation in which the security of the network is poorly configured, this might work. Hopefully, however in 95% of of the cases.. the IT folks are smarter than a paper clip and this'll have no effect whatsover. |

Bess is an amazing piece of software, seen as the best in the industry / market. It's not cheap, and used by many schools and districts. Your chance of using a proxy website such as http://www.anonymization.net is small.
There is a reason why they have Bess, and schools dont want people going to bad sites, downloading bad software, or messing with config files. Can't some things just wait until you get home? |

Yea, be lucky you have computers and internet at school to type up things and do a little quick research.
I remember having to look through those old ink covered layered paper things called books for research. As for typing up a report... it was more difficult finding a typewriter than the research involved with the project itself. |

I want a loop-hole to be able to get/work around Bess at school. Even if I type in Apple it blocks a good 7 out of 10 or the sites. This is pointless.

That's something that I'd recommend letting the people who run the school network know. If it's blocking sites that you should honestly have access to for school-related reasons, then they should be willing to work with you to make sure that the firewall is adjusted properly.
On the other hand, if these are sites that you're trying to access that aren't school related, then there's really no reason for them to try to help. Schools pay money for internet access, and they typically page usage fees; it's no suprise that they don't want that access used for non-related topics - that just means they have to pay more for the internet connection than they really should be, and education budgets are strained already (Thank You, Federal Government).
