Read This BEFORE Posting Here!
There's been some confusion on what this forum is for, and how best to get help with questions you might have. Below are some guidelines for posting here, intended to help you to get the best response to your questions and other discussions.
Guidelines for Posting in this Forum
- This is an internet community of people helping other people. Please keep in mind that no one here is obligated to help you in any way -- the staff and other members help because they want to. No one who posts here is representing AOL, AIM, or any other online service in an official capacity. In addition, it should be noted that TheIdeaWeb (this website) has no affiliation with America Online whatsoever.
- Please be polite when asking for help. After all - you are asking other people to do you a favor by spending their time answering your questions. Posting rudely and slinging insults will not get you more help -- you'll simply be ignored.
- Please don't ask for any information that would be illegal, harassing, or invasive of another's privacy. It doesn't matter if billions of people steal, cheat, or lie everyday -- this is not the place to discuss such things. (This includes talking about places to freely download paid software, knocking people offline, etc).
- Please use real english words. Speaking in shorthand and slang (Dun NE1 type wit diz, peepz) can be annoying and confusing. As such, it makes it much harder to help you. Real english is pretty easy, and is good practice for the "real world".
What to Include in Your Posts
When posting a technical problem, it will speed things along if you include the following information:
- What operating system and version your computer uses (Win98, XP, Mac, etc).
- How you connnect to the internet (dialup, cable, dsl) and whether you use a router, firewall, or other similar things.
- What version of AIM or AOL you are using (saying 'latest one' doesn't help.. but the version number really does)!
- Any applicable additional information, like complete error messages, what you did just before the problem, how often the problem happens, etc.
Thanks for reading this post! Feel free to post now! I also encourage you to register so you can recieve e-mail notifications of any replies, and other benefits.
