Unfortunately there isnt a way to recover old emails from Yahoo. Even using a paid service, I dont know of any that allow a user to undelete emails that are more than 30 days old.

Possibly if you had a court order Yahoo could assist you, but short of that I don't think you have a chance. Finding email that old just isn't a reality

I think it's safe to assume this isnt the answer you were looking for, but I hope I've been of some help.

Retrieving deleted yahoo mails...

are yahoo e-mails the only ones that CAN'T be retrieved after being deleted? is hotmail, msn, aol and netscape the same too? i so desperately need to retrieve some deleted e-mails from my yahoo account. goodness! they must be VERY protective of e-mail security! even the owners of their own e-mail accounts can't get their deleted stuff back.

i've heard that when you delete e-mails from your account, there's still a way to retrieve them from the hard drive or something in your computer. is this true? and if so, does anyone know how to do so?

Yes, the others are definitely the same. I don't know that there's a single e-mail provider in existance that would keep e-mail after a user has deleted it and removed it from their trash (or waited over the amount of time that the provider keeps trash).

I doubt it has much to do with e-mail security. I highly doubt that e-mail providers KEEP e-mail after users delete it. I know that we (the website you are currently at) don't keep e-mail after it's deleted.

Of course, there's always backups - but restoring data from backups can be extremely time consuming.. and thus can also cost money. It's really not something I would expect a company providing a free service (or extremely low cost service) to do. With millions of users, can you imagine how often they'd get asked to do this?

Yeah, definitely is unpleasant to lose things that are important to you.

My suggestion would be to get an e-mail provider (such as TheIdeaWeb) that allows you quite a bit of space... then you can just save anything that might be important, instead of deleting it.

another question. What about emails that werent deleted by the user just read and never saved or deleted. Just plain read and set aside. If they arent in the "old mail" section does that mean they are gone for good as well? (for aol)

Go into AOL "mail Prefrences" and check the box "Save Read Mail" and the mail will be saved in your 'incoming/saved mail" file after you read it.

Most providers do not save this information... if an account is deactivated... the info is just gone.

aol account

I recently moved and haven't changed my email account over from aol. I no longer can log on into my account. I need to pull some emails that were saved. I've heard of going through the hard drive, but haven't a clue how to do that. Any other ideas?

Generally AOL emails are not saved on the hard drive. I haven't used the email service in years, since version 5.0 actually, but they may have been saved on your hard drive if you had chosen to save them to your personal filing cabinet. This was a feature way back when, and it wasn't a default option, so most members didn't do it.
