MTU size and hotmail login
An MTU above 1500 is considered a virus attack?
As I understand this is a hotmail login page and the only thing you are posting is a username and password. It is a microsoft site, they control how much gets posted to their server. How could your service provider would have any say in that? I might have to switch to Windows 2000 professional. But I can't believe they have released such a fragile operating system. |

I've activated the meta-refresh option, in security options, and it runs!!
The security perfil was medium. With low-medium perfil it's OK. My O.S. is WinXP Pro, and IE 6.0 Thanks mushabar! |

My fix...
Don't know if this will help for others but it fixed my problems.
First, I am on Win 2000 Pro. About one/two weeks ago I am trying to install a D-Link 624 to work with my Westell 2200 (ISP is BellSouth). I decide that I should get any updates identified through the Windows Update utility. I "think" one may have been an upgrade to IE6 or some service pack for it. Point is after simultaneously installing around 4 updates I start having IE problems. I narrowed it down to some encoding problem. It would automatically choose "Western European (ISO)" which would prevent graphics being shown on "SOME" sites. The Hotmail login page and subsequent e-mails being one of them. The temp workaround was each time a web page displayed wrong to select the correct encoding of "Western European (Windows)". After searching long and hard I was about to give up when I decided to check the Windows Update site again. On a whim I installed the latest DirectX version and everything has been great since! Good luck finding your fix. Brandon |

ntl peeps only
==============================================
Details:- I notice the problem is only when I use my DSL connection (I was able to get into hotmail from my dialup connection) Contacted my Internet service provider (NTL) and they had already beed receiving complaints about this and also secure internet pages (https pages) Solution: --------- The temporary solution they gave me, was to provide me with a proxy server ip and port to use Proxy Server : 62.252.32.4 Port : 8080 NOTE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY ONLY FOR NTL IN THE UK. Suggest you folks contact your ISP and tell them you can use hotmail through dialup but not through their DSL service. NOTE: my xp machine seems to work ok without this, but NTL have told me that other users have reported the same problem using xp and do need to use the proxy at the moment, very strange, but don't worry, phone your DSL ISP and moan! :-) Sincerely hope this helps. work on ntl dial up..56k n ntl i can check my email now. |

hotmail login page comes up blank (AGAIN!)
My login page for Hotmail comes up blank with a "done" in the lower left corner. I've read the solutions for previous users (such as downloading VP scripting updates); unfortunately they don't work for me. Everything else on the system works normally. I am used Windows XP. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I also have had this problem for several days. Tried many things and none worked, until I enabled "allow meta refresh" under security in the options as described by Mubashar.
So - many thanks to Mubashar Alan |

Hotmail log-in page comes-up blank
I had the same problem. I downloaded and installed SP1 for Win XP, emptied my temp internet files, installed very XP patch and update I could find, set my browser's security options as described in earlier replies to this post and nothing worked. Then I logged into the Microsoft Passport site rather than logging into hotmail. I then checked the option to recall my login info and when I logged into Hotmail, it worked.
Go figure. (could it have been a simple cookie issue?) |
