Zone Alarm is a firewall and that's what was causing the whole problem on my system. I just did another quick test just now and with ZA on (and even with the email filtering off) it still locked me out and sent me to the match page. As soon as i turned it off i was able to get back in and send messages with no problems...even from outlook. With ZA turned on everything seems OK through the hotmail website but for some reason it doesnt mesh with outlook when you're sending mail. good luck

hi -- i used the method posted above -
zone alarm is security software, and has a firewall feature.
i disabled the entire program and went to hotmail through internet explorer.
i signed in and match the picture came up - i entered the scrambled numbers and letters (security code) and i got into hotmail with no problem.

i don't know if all security software needs to be at least temporarily disabled, or just zone alarm, but its worth a try. just remember to re-enable after you get into hotmail.
even the windows firewall might be an issue...who knows.

hope that helps.

I was stuck in that nasty loop for two weeks..i was so frustrated I wanted to rip my computer apart..i tried everything listed here and other sites..and nothing worked..i disabled zone alarm, norton internet security, and AV and still nothing..I finally installed Firefox from mozilla . i went to hotmail and logged in without being asked to match the picture and the all of a sudden i could get back into it from IE too..it's crazy..but that finally worked..after that i reenabled ZoneAlarm and norton and it still works..hope this info can help anyone as frustrated as i was..good luck

I use the free Hotmail service and cannot get out of the "match the picture" loop. I guess its because I've been using Outlook Exp. My wife uses the same PC, but has a premium hotmail account and has had no problems. She had to "match the picture" once and it let her through to her email.

MSN is showing us the door and asking us the close it behind us when we leave. (or pay up - yeah right!!)

hotmail sucks

I think this is a ploy for hotmail to make more money. I am soooo irritated by this "match the picture" thing. It's completely lame and doesn't prevent spammers because I still get a lot of junk mail. The only people it affects are innocent hotmail users. It's a lot of trouble and if this continues, I'm going to ban hotmail and tell the world to do the same because there's better systems out there such as gmail, yahoo, etc...

I guess I'm not Alone

I haven't been able to access my hotmail account for days. I could get it working for a short time and then the next day I am back in the loop of "match the picture". I tried the deleting of temp files and cookies and history and that still didn't help. I will keep monitoring ideas on this group for why this is happening. At first I thought maybe it was a conflict between MSN and Hotmail where Hotmail saw I was already signed in on passport and thought I was trying to send spam.

Well, as with other technical issues, this too will soon be resolved and we will never know why it happen in the first place. If any of you have new ideas, please let me know.

Very Frustrated! I've gone to using my Yahoo account to contact my family memebers since I can't get into my Hotmail account. I've had it for a long time as well.

Here is an idea, are all of you using Outlook or Outlook Express? And, if so, is it setup for your hotmail account or a different account. It seemed like my problems started when I changed my Outlook Express settings to point to my comcast.net email and it has gotten worst since then.

the zonelabs help is outdated and has nothing to do with the current crisis. The only place to get a solution to the current HotMel/HotSmells HotTrash HotSpam problems is http://moveonhotmail.com/
